nyc revisited

today i found myself sifting through my photographs from my trip to nyc this past october where i met up with my friend susanna, an incredibly talented photographer and warm-souled person.

there is something to be said about revisiting one's work. photographs that i originally tossed aside, ones mostly of random people on the street (accept the ones of susanna in action with her camera) spoke to me today, and as i worked with them i discovered new details that i had not previously noticed. one of my favorite discoveries was found in the photo of the guitarist -- upon cropping the image i noticed a woman standing perfectly in between two bars of the fence, watching. was she standing still? passing by? is she drawn to the music? does she know this man? does she love him? unrequited love? a broken heart(s)? or are they complete strangers?

i zoomed in on one of the faces of the women holding the balloons, and saw her facial features and expression for the first time -- i had a "would you look at that!" moment, completely thrilled to see something i hadn't noticed before. and, i was especially drawn to her liquid, rich brown eyes. where are the young women going with those balloons and what kinds of art supplies do they have in their bag?

i also noticed the tattoo on the left arm of the man with the most beautiful dreads -- and if you look with a discerning eye, you can even see the faint trail of smoke coming from his cigarette.

thank you for all of your recent comments and i apologize for being a bit out of touch lately in terms of returning them. me needs to catch up. thank you for your patience.
