the permanence of light

i am measuring the weather by the photographs i snap each day.
it has been rainy
overcast
most days.
hints of sunshine here and there

i am surrounded by muted tones
cold raw air

and yet
i can feel warmth inside my heart
still able to tap into the world's light
your light
my light

human will
hot
mute
both

soft spoken
with a strong voice

your grief is like mine
as mine is like yours
as we continue to smile

i cannot think of a better song than this for today.

space for light

when winter's chill creeps in, the act of holding a warm mug in my hands, something so small, so simple, means so much.

tell me, what are the ways in which you find warmth, light -- during the dark, cold months?
