i am sipping hot cider in a mug made of clay from this mountain,
the same mountain in the story Blueberries for Sal.
i'm hoping for poetry, but the words are not coming
so i will leave you with red leaves.
...and a look into my heart. It's about letting go for me these days -- here is my story.
On another note, Chrysti and I have begun an artistic journey together as we explore a bi-weekly prompt on Wednesday, through the lenses of our cameras. Today is the launch of our first collaboration -- interpretations of the prompt emerge. The first photo in the diptych is credited to Chrysti, the acorn my interpretation. Visit Chrysti's blog to see our second diptych. We invite you to play along (it's not necessary to pair with someone, but if you can, it sure is fun) -- just interpret the prompt through your own camera lens, post your photograph on your blog, and leave a link to your post in the comment section of either of our blogs. We look forward to seeing through your eyes.

Another reminder that I am offering the first VisualPoetry online workshop again from November 1 -29 due to popular demand. Registration begins October 25, 7 PM EST -- be sure to register early as spots are limited. I also have more online digital photography and digital art classes in the works for 2010.
I find joy in sharing music that moves me, so before I close...this is for you.

Wonderful post!!!
I love how well your photo compliments mine... the color makes it all pop... plus i have a fondness for acorns.
I am so glad we are embarking on this.
XO
Susan,
Fall is about letting go and I am reading this all over the place in blogland. So many are experiencing big letting go's. Yours is so poignant with sending a babe off to school. The leaves fall gracefully from the trees, reminding me to let go of all that worries or consumes with ease. Grace can be found in leaves...Me too, if I allow it to unfold. May you fall gently...
I wish I were a photochick because I would join in, but I am not. I will savor yours. :-) Autumn blessings...
Your photos are narratives in themselves. I often find myself getting lost in your images...a good kind of lost...a lost that feels home.
Oh, letting go is one of the toughest things to do, isn't it? Your story brought it all back. And the thing is about letting go...just when you start to get all comfotable with the feeling, and secure in thinking, oh "I can handle this"...some other part of their being has to be "let go" as well. I guess growing up is all about little "letting-go's" You sure captured the "flip-side pretty well. I am sure you will come to enjoy and long for that time of peace and solitude you will soon grow accustomed to.
I totally want to play along. Your pics are just beautiful and as always inspiring.
Hey, love the 2nd book cover :)
Beautiful photographs ... perhaps the poetry didn't arrive in the form of words as you hoped, but the visuals have definitely woven a poem.
I'm so glad you are offering your workshop again. I hope to get a spot. :)
First of all, Blueberries for Sal, one of my absolute favorite books as a kid. I need to go find a copy today! Second, listening to Flume while reading your piece on letting go just about tore me open. My boys are 10 and 8, a bit beyond yours, but I'm just feeling that sense of really letting go this year. I am trying to find my way in the silence and the space. Trying to remember I am more than just a caregiver. Trying to find me again. Thank you for your words and your gorgeous images. Poetry not necessary in the face of such beauty.....
I love our work. I'm going to try and sign up for this next class.
I left a note for you on the Wish Studios site - hope you get it... love the red leaves! I'm on a new laptop and don't have photoshop yet and even if I did, I only know the basics. I've got the sign up date for your next class on my calendar and I see you've got another book coming out?! Do you have a release date? I'll keep my eyes open.
I've got a great photo for 'emerge' and I'll post it very soon! cheers...
This isn't directly related to your post but I was looking at your Mixed Media stuff and couldn't figure out how comment.
Your work is beautiful. I've never been so moved by any single person's art before (and trust me, I've looked at a LOT of art...).
Keep it coming! Do you ever have shows in NYC?

after reading about letting go, i tried leaving a message to you on that post, but couldn't figure out how to work it.
since you have acknowledged your little ones flight...i know (my only is 25) your little birds will always fly back to you time and time again, just as freely as you let them leave the nest. thank you for your beautiful posts. xo wanda
Thank you susan for sharing your photos, here is my "emerge - echo"http://bonniebluedenim.blogspot.com/2009/10/emerge.html
thank you!
Ah, I know the feeling... I've been grappling with/for poetry these days myself... Your photos say so much though... :o)
that first photograph, the reflection of color and change in the making made me breathe more deeply. the diptych is beautiful!
I have not only been having to let go of my fair share of things but have been reading about it from several others in blogland as well. Apparently we are all in this life thing together! Good luck on your new adventures.
as always a moment to reflect on beauty here in image and a soulful guitar piece..many thanks for your artistry!
Yes it's hard to let go...a constant battle...even when they've physically left home...take care...
photo's today so beautiful...
flume beautiful as well
love visiting you here ~ there is always poetry:)
I enjoyed reading your post on wishstudio.com, Susan. And this dyptich is so lovely and so perfect for Autumn, don't you think? It has me wishing to see more, as if there's more to the images - a story, a character standing in the background.
PS: I'm looking forward to your new book, Digital Expressions. Do you know when it is going to be released?
Soul-touching beauty my dearest Susan...I am SO there just looking at these, reminds me of this quote:
"No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face." -- John Donne
And I love the results of your collaboration w/ Christy, but especially your acorn: it fills me with thoughts of possibility, which I so need right now :>
xoxo

Beautiful work. I love how you can let your work be so soft, yet dramatic! I have a hard time with doing that!
Love the concept of your beginning "Emerge" photo shoot! Just looked through many of your previous posts and they're so poetic, with strikingly beautiful photographs, and gentle words! Thanks for your kindness on my post. Will continue to view your journey!
