happy

summer makes my heart go flutter and takes my senses on a wild spirit ride

excitement! when my son discovered the first wild, red raspberries of July today, just at the edge of the woods

a little sugar on top mixes perfectly with the tarty, woodsy flavors

nap time in summery cool white sheets, waking dreamy, slowly stretching, reading picture books with the children

when the late afternoon sleepy feeling takes me, it is time for strong espresso which i make in my italian moka pot.

today i dug in the garden. it's escape into a peaceful world where my mind is quieted and there is only me, the flowers, soil, and sun soaking.

ornamental lavender allium smells like delicious onions browning in a pan with a pat of butter

a tender mallow bud just about ready to open its delicate petals; possibility

simple, earthy snacks; pub food with a French flare

sharing a good tune with you -- he makes me want to grab my guitar

what do you enjoy about summer?

your posts are one of the most enjoyable parts of, well, every season!
you have such an incredible way of highlighting the detail that so many would walk right by, photographing to look more like magic than ordinary. I just love your work!

WOW. Your pictures are so crisp, they are popping right off the screen! Amazing. My summer favorites? The "sounds of summer"...listening to the toads and crickets at night, lightening bugs, icecream, trips to the beach, long walks in the evening...

The splendors of summer...your post makes a grand showcase of them, Susan! I love the longer evenings, sitting outside with a cool drink & lingering longer over meals, picking berries & baking with them, picnics at the beach, indulging in far more ice cream than my hips say I should ;o), walking barefoot in the grass, working in the garden, roses-roses-and more roses...Oh, I just love everything about this season! :o) Continue to savor...Happy Days...

Your visions of summer's beauty.. oh my!! Loved this. I'll have to borrow your concept and create a post like this of my own.
But for now, I'll share that I'm loving the sunshine, the sand, the water, (lake, ocean, or a little stream), wildflowers, watermelon, and a good dinner on the grill.

I love everything about summer - when, unlike this year we're actually having summer....

Those are beautiful photos. I love summer and being outdoors. All the pretty wildflowers growing along the roadsides and ditches just waiting to be photographed. Yummy home grown food growing in the garden and so much more.

yummy images! absolutely spellbinding.

summer:
lavender blooming,
the smell of summer rain on hot sidewalk,
minimal clothing,
a limey margarita at the end of a hot, hot day,
cool grass on hot feet,
spraying myself down with the hose,
the light at this time of day: 6:49 p.m.,
fresh strawberries from the garden,
the spurt of growth in the mint and cantaloupe,
being home.

Hi Susan,
I am so looking forward to your workshop. I have placed the sign up on my calendar so I don't forget.
I so enjoy your art. I can't wait to learn a little something from you.

My favorite summer things are my childhood memories and all of the summer produce.

I like the nights...after the day cools down and a little breeze blows through.

Your photos of summer really glisten. That first one is awesome! So abstract and interesting.

Your summer sheets image has me contemplating heading back to bed for a nap. One of my summer pleasures is staying up late with the girls (3 nieces and my daughter)to lay outside on the trampoline and stargaze.
